Wayne State University is proud to present the Maggie Allesee Department of Theatre and Dance December Dance Concert on Friday, December 5th at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday, December 7th at 2:00 p.m. The December Dance Concert highlights the work of renowned guest artists, faculty, and select students. Performances are at the Bonstelle Theatre, 3424 Woodward Avenue, in midtown Detroit. The United Palace (4140 Broadway, at 175th Street) and UPCA (United Palace of Cultural Arts) will feature a screening of the 1933 classic KING KONG, as part of its 'Sunday Movies at the Palace' screening series, curated and hosted by Tony and Grammy Award-winning performer/writer Lin-Manuel Miranda (In the Heights) on April 27th. Stage show begins at 5:00 followed by the screening at 5:30.

The department has announced its 2013 Spring Concert entitled Spark. There will be two performances, tonight, March 8 and Saturday, March 9, both at 7:30pm at the Bonstelle Theatre in downtown Detroit.

Jack Black and Kyle Gass of Tenacious D are headed to Austin with Shine America to promote 'Ghost Ghirls,' a web comedy about 2 hilariously inept ghost hunters, coming to the Yahoo! Screen. A watch party and concert will be presented by Yahoo! in the web company's venue at SXSW on March 13th. One of the episodes screened during the watch party features Val Kilmer.

It may have only reached 10 degrees outside the Michael A. Guido Theater in Dearborn Friday night, but inside, the stage was as hot as it gets! Special guest artist Rich Ridenour conducted the Dearborn Symphony in a salute to the movies. “Great Movies, Grand Piano” was a magnificent performance filled with stirring music and unexpected comedy.

It turned out to be one of their most successful projects to date. A Holland New Voices Award came shortly afterwards, and now playwright Henry Murray is ready for its close-up at Rogue Machine, known for staging new works. This will be a West Coast Premiere in one of the country's most vibrant cities for new plays, Los Angeles, opening tonight, September 15, 2012.

The musical - with book and lyrics by Alan Jay Lerner and music by Frederick Loewe -- will be directed by veteran musical theatre director David Lee, with choreography by Peggy Hickey and musical direction by Steve Orich.

Elaine Paige, the renowned British musical stage star, recording artist and actress who recently celebrated her 40th anniversary on stage, is in New York City recording a new "Duets" album for Warner Bros Records that is being produced by the legendary Phil Ramone. Among the internationally renowned recording artists participating in the venture are (in alphabetical order): Paul Anka, John Barryman, Michael Bolton, Kenny G, Olivia Newton John, Barry Manilow, Johnny Mathis, Billy Ocean, Le Ann Rimes, Jon Secada, Neil Sedaka and Dionne Warwick.
